  1. I’m a computer tech and I have to tell you that unfortunately, if you don’t have a startup disc, these instructions will not help you. If you don’t have a Windows Start up disc, you can search Google for “Windows 10 Media Creation Tool” from Microsoft, install it and this tool will allow you to create the bootable USB/CD needed to troubleshoot. The only drawback with this solution is that you have to have another computer with Windows 10 to create the USB/CD startup or ask a friend to create it for you.

  3. It doesn’t work, when you boot the DVD it STILL needs the hard drive to have no corrupted startup files otherwise the screen stays black and you never get any menus.

  4. I’m getting a watch dog initialization message on start up and it seems to prevent me from booting to safe mode. Any suggestions?

  5. This tells me nothing…….I just want to be able to press a key and get into safe mode. As soon as I figure this out, I’m going back to Windows 7.

  6. When the computer won’t boot at all, how do you boot into Safe Mode when you do not have a start/install CD (it was downloaded as a free upgrade from Win 7) and only have a 2GB flash USB drive? Am I totally boned here?
