Show Notes:
Install and configure rtl8812au in Debian:

sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r) build-essential git

git clone https://github.com/scrivy/rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux.git

cd rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux

make

sudo make install

sudo modprobe rtl8812au

reboot

In Ubuntu:

Use Driver Manager
If Driver Manager is not avail or fails:
Use Debian Procedure above

In Arch/Manjaro:

yaourt rtl8812au

sudo pacman -S linux-headers

  1. Fresh install of Ubuntu 20. Didn’t work. At the ‘sudo make install’ step it just keeps complaining about ‘cannot start rtl8812au.ko’ No such file or directory

  3. Will the same method work with Kali Linux 2020.4 running in Virtual Box? I have bought the Alfa AWUS036ACH USB Network Adapter and am having issues getting it to run!!! It works perfectly on my host machine running Windows 10….
    Any advice would be appreciated 🙂

  5. thank u so much for sharing this out. I’m on Manjaro, tried installing with the Add/Remove Programs and packages from the AUR, none of them work. Finally got my Archer T4UHP to work following this video

  8. I just installed debian buster yesterday and for some reason it says there are no wifi connections nearby, it doesn’t show my wifi ap. I don’t know what to do, i cant even install apt updates. If someone knows a solution please help me

  10. I just got my RT 5390 wireless card working in my HPE Desktop with Debian 10.5 by following this set of instructions: . The key was adding the non-free repo so that I could access the firmware file. Mine was showing as missing firmware and the steps you covered for Debian didn’t seem to work for me. Thanks for suggesting a possible solution though.

  11. When i entered the second command (git clone …) it prompted me to put in the username and password which i do not know…
